OAF projects help build experiences and stimulate the interests of children, parents and teachers alike, so as to encourage a lifelong commitment to engaging the arts. In 2005, we worked with an exhibition of paintings by Chinese artist Li Xinping, titled “Of Tea I Sing, Of Tea I Drink”, to help young Hong Kong children learn about their own Chinese culture in more novel ways. A workshop with groups of five- to six-year-old children merged the physical act of selecting, brewing and drinking tea with an appreciation of the visual arts; and the children also had the opportunity to make their own art based on the physical and aesthetic qualities of tea.
