In 2008, OAF organised a project in Manila with 11 Chinese artists, titled
“7 Days”. The project was supported by the University of Santo Tomas, the University of the Philippines, the National Historical Institute and the National Museum of the Philippines. “7 Days” was a site-specific project curated by Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, Wu Yuren, Shi Wanwan and Li Hui. It involved 11 artists in self-imposed incarceration for 7 days, at the University of Santo Tomas, the site where Americans and other civilians were interned by the Japanese during the Second World War. The project explored the ramifications and potential for creative production when faced with the loss of personal freedom, power and control.
